The National Weather Service confirmed two tornadoes — near Cypress (up to 105 mph) and around Klein (up to 115 mph) — that damaged more than 100 homes across Memorial Northwest, Cypress and Spring, causing torn roofs, smashed windows, downed trees, multiple gas leaks and debris-blocked roads, with authorities reporting no injuries as of Tuesday. Power outages peaked above 20,000 customers, Houston and Klein fire departments responded with saw teams and other crews (an engine crew briefly sheltered in a resident’s garage), heavy fog hampered full damage assessments, and NWS had issued tornado watches and severe thunderstorm warnings for the region.
