Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and SEPTA said Monday the agency is fully complying with an October Federal Railroad Administration order prompted by five fires on Silverliner IV regional railcars, with some of the 225 cars returning to service. Shapiro announced $220 million in extra state aid to help implement safety measures, after the NTSB criticized SEPTA’s maintenance and operations and warned the aging car design poses an immediate fire risk.
