A small breach on the Desimone levee along the Green River near Tukwila/Kent prompted targeted evacuation alerts to roughly 1,100 homes and businesses as crews shored the gap with sandbags, a flash-flood warning was quickly refined from about 47,000 to 7,000 people, and no injuries were reported. Statewide, Gov. Bob Ferguson declared an emergency as record river crests, widespread rescues, landslides, road and rail closures, power outages and the deployment of National Guard and water‑rescue teams forced tens of thousands to flee — including about 78,000 in the Skagit floodplain and reports of at least 100,000 people affected statewide — with forecasters warning another storm could bring more rain starting Sunday.
