A Siena poll shows Gov. Kathy Hochul leading likely Republican Bruce Blakeman by 26 points, and New York Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado on Feb. 10 suspended his primary challenge, saying there was "no viable path forward." Delgado’s exit — after he tapped democratic socialist India Walton as a running mate and days after NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani endorsed Hochul — prompted her campaign to frame the party as united on affordability and safety and focused on defeating Donald Trump and his allies, while Blakeman had to find a new running mate after his first choice withdrew.
