An off-duty Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent fatally shot an armed neighbor who was firing a rifle into the air around 10:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve at an apartment complex near Roscoe Boulevard and Louise Avenue in Los Angeles’ Northridge neighborhood. The ICE officer, who was not injured, confronted the gunman, exchanged fire, then called 911, and the Los Angeles Police Department is conducting an ongoing investigation while DHS officials publicly praised the agent’s actions as protecting his own life and those of others.
