A 24-year-old man, Daricka M. Moore, is accused of killing six people — including a 7‑year‑old second cousin — across three locations in the Cedarbluff area of West Point, Mississippi, near the Alabama border, with authorities saying victims included his father, brother and uncle as well as a local pastor and the pastor’s brother; investigators allege an attempted sexual battery at one home and that Moore put a gun to another child’s head but it may have misfired. Moore was arrested at a roadblock late Saturday, is being held without bail on first‑degree murder charges that may be upgraded to capital murder, and District Attorney Scott Colom said he intends to seek the death penalty as autopsies and investigations into motive and the firearms continue.
