Zohran Mamdani NYC Transition

The Anti‑Defamation League said its review found that more than 80 of Mayor‑elect Zohran Mamdani’s over 400 transition and administrative appointees—about 20%—have ties to groups it characterizes as anti‑Zionist (including Students for Justice in Palestine, Jewish Voice for Peace and Within Our Lifetime) or have made anti‑Israel statements, citing examples and alleged links to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan while also noting that at least 25 appointees have publicly expressed support for the Jewish community. The ADL report has surfaced amid other transition controversies, including the resignation of appointments director Catherine Almonte Da Costa after resurfaced antisemitic posts, Mamdani’s appointment of Mysonne Linen to a public‑safety committee despite his past convictions, and the naming of Ramzi Kassem as chief counsel—moves Mamdani has defended as bringing marginalized voices into city government.
