About 18 million people across the West and Midwest are under winter alerts as an Arctic blast brings dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills; the NWS reported â12°F in Grand Forks, N.D., with a wind chill near â33°F late Saturday morning, and forecasts show lows around â15°F in Minneapolis and about 1°F in Chicago into Sunday. The cold air mass is expected to push south and east through the weekend, prompting coldâweather advisories as far south as Montgomery, Ala. (â22°F) and Savannah, Ga. (â24°F) late Sunday into Monday.
