Two Teens Charged in Daytime Shooting Near Capitol and Union Station
Washington, D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department says a 17‑year‑old from Northeast D.C. and a 16‑year‑old from Southeast D.C. have been arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon after a 15‑year‑old boy was shot Friday afternoon along Massachusetts Avenue NE near North Capitol Street, just outside Union Station and within the broader U.S. Capitol security zone. Officers responded around 4:10 p.m. and found the victim conscious and breathing with a gunshot wound; he was taken to a hospital with non‑life‑threatening injuries. U.S. Capitol Police officers helped secure the scene and initially detained two suspects, who were then arrested after MPD detectives’ investigation. An MPD K‑9 later located a firearm near the scene, and the case remains under investigation as authorities work to piece together the circumstances of the shooting in one of the city’s busiest transit and government corridors.
