Violent Crime and Terrorism Charges

Federal prosecutors have added an attempted arson charge against 50-year-old Lawrence Reed, already accused of setting a woman on fire aboard a Chicago Blue Line train on Nov. 17, alleging he tried to set Chicago City Hall ablaze three days earlier on Nov. 14. Court records released Dec. 18 say Reed 'maliciously damaged and attempted to damage and destroy, by means of fire,' the City Hall building, while he continues to face a terrorism charge in the train attack that left a 26-year-old woman severely burned and drew national attention to public transit safety.
