Venezuela’s attorney general Tarek William Saab told AFP that Nobel Peace Prize laureate and opposition leader María Corina Machado will be deemed a fugitive if she leaves hiding to attend the Dec. 10 award ceremony in Oslo, citing multiple ongoing criminal probes. Saab said Machado is under investigation for conspiracy, incitement of hatred and terrorism, including for supporting the United States’ military buildup in the Caribbean amid escalating U.S.–Venezuela tensions.
