In a Politico interview, Trump called it "inappropriate" for the U.K. to be dealing with Gov. Gavin Newsom and mocked him, quipping "The U.K.’s got enough trouble without getting involved with Gavin Newscum." At the Munich conference, Newsom slammed the Trump administration as "temporary," told European leaders he "should have brought a bunch of knee pads" for those "rolling over" for Trump and labeled them "pathetic," using the platform to pitch California as a "stable and reliable" alternative and fueling 2028 speculation.
