ICC Judges Decry Trump Sanctions Over War-Crimes Cases
International Criminal Court judge Luz del Carmen Ibáñez Carranza and colleagues say U.S. sanctions imposed by the Trump administration have left 11 senior ICC officials cut off from American funds, goods and financial services, effectively treating them like 'terrorists and drug dealers.' The measures, expanded on Dec. 18, target eight judges and the court’s three top prosecutors, initially over a 2020 decision to investigate alleged U.S. war crimes in Afghanistan and now primarily to pressure the court to drop 2024 arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defense minister Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
