The UK said it joined French forces in an airstrike targeting a suspected ISIS weapons bunker in Syria. Separately, the U.S. military has launched a new round of strikes in Syria — described as its second since Dec. 19 and a response to the killing of two Iowa National Guard soldiers and their interpreter — while U.S. Special Envoy Tom Barrack met in Damascus with Syria’s new leadership, including President Ahmed al‑Sharaa and Foreign Minister Asaad al‑Shaibani, to convey Washington’s support for a political transition.
