Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer said Dec. 16 the U.S. Department of Labor will deploy an unemployment insurance strike team to Minnesota and has opened a targeted review of several state benefits programs following reports of widespread fraud. In a letter to Minnesota’s Department of Employment and Economic Development, DOL said concerns about fraud, waste and abuse could compromise the integrity of the state’s unemployment insurance program and cited alleged issues touching child nutrition, autism services and housing stability programs.
