A Maryland man identified as Demarco has been charged with attempted murder after Arlington police say a masked suspect wearing gloves and carrying what appeared to be a concealed firearm went to OMB Director Russell Vought’s Arlington home on Aug. 10, 2025 and asked a witness about him before leaving. Search warrants allegedly recovered directions to Vought’s residence, information on relatives’ firearms, a guide on avoiding detection and online posts soliciting others to kill Vought; a CBS‑cited complaint says Demarco told investigators he went to confront Vought about Project 2025 and had been taken into custody in November 2024 under a mental‑health emergency petition. Several high‑profile Democrats did not respond to inquiries about whether past rhetoric toward Vought was related to the plot, though Rep. Brendan Boyle condemned political violence.
