Transgender Policy in Schools

An internal Texas A&M University committee unanimously found this week that the summary dismissal of English senior lecturer Melissa McCoul over a transgender-related children’s literature lesson was unjustified, citing failures to follow proper procedures and lack of 'good cause.' Interim President Tommy Williams has received the panel’s nonbinding recommendation and will decide next steps, while McCoul’s attorney says the dispute is likely headed to court amid political pressure following calls for her firing by Gov. Greg Abbott.
