The Department of Homeland Security said Monday it will terminate Temporary Protected Status for Myanmar, ending deportation protections and work permits for 3,969 enrolled beneficiaries when the program expires in late January unless a court intervenes. DHS, in a notice signed by Secretary Kristi Noem, cited supposed improvements in governance and stability, vetting concerns, overstay risks, and some national security or fraud probes, despite Myanmar’s ongoing civil conflict and mass displacement.
