Timothy Loehmann, the former Cleveland police officer who fatally shot 12‑year‑old Tamir Rice in 2014, was fired Friday from his position as a ranger with the Snowshoe Resort Community District in West Virginia following an emergency board meeting, marking at least the fourth time in seven years he has left a small department amid public backlash. Loehmann, who was previously fired by Cleveland for lying on his police application and has withdrawn or resigned from law‑enforcement posts in Ohio, Pennsylvania and another West Virginia town after criticism, again drew objections from Rice’s family attorney, who condemned officials willing to hire him.
