Maine grants final permit for NECEC line

Avangrid received Maine’s final permit on Nov. 19 to complete the New England Clean Energy Connect, a 145‑mile transmission line delivering up to 1,200 MW of Canadian hydropower to the New England grid. The company says final testing of the Central Maine Power corridor is on track for mid‑December, after which power deliveries to Massachusetts can begin, following a 2021 referendum rejection and a 2023 jury ruling allowing the project to proceed.
