A coalition of 40 conservative state treasurers, auditors and comptrollers in 28 states, organized through the State Financial Officers Foundation, sent a formal letter to the White House pledging support for JD Vance’s "War on Fraud." SFOF’s inaugural 2025 Oversight Report says its members "safeguarded" more than $28 billion in waste, fraud and abuse — citing examples like nearly $2 billion in excessive spending flagged by Florida, $836 million in improper Medicaid payments in Kentucky, over $1 billion in lapsed salaries in North Carolina and $518 million uncovered in Utah — and urges a coordinated federal–state anti‑fraud effort as they collectively oversee more than $3 trillion in state funds.
