The Kansas City Chiefs announced Dec. 22, 2025 that they will leave Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, for a new domed stadium in Kansas City, Kansas, slated to open for the 2031 NFL season after a Kansas legislative council unanimously approved using STAR bonds to finance up to 70% of the project and an adjacent mixed‑use district. The facility will be built near Kansas Speedway and The Legends retail district, with the team also planning a new practice complex in Olathe, Kansas, dealing a major economic and political blow to Missouri officials who had pursued their own subsidy package after local Jackson County voters rejected a stadium tax extension.
