Federal prosecutors in the Northern District of Georgia have charged convicted cybercriminal Kwamaine Jerell Ford, 34, of Buford, Georgia, with a new 22‑count indictment alleging he ran a phishing and identity‑theft scheme targeting NBA and NFL players and then escalated into sex trafficking while he was already in federal prison. Beginning around November 2020, Ford allegedly posed online as a well‑known adult film performer and as spoofed Apple support representatives to trick dozens of professional athletes into surrendering Apple ID credentials, then used that access to steal credit and debit card data and make thousands of dollars in purchases. Court documents say he later coerced a woman into commercial sex with numerous athletes by promising to advance her modeling career, advertising her, arranging travel and payments, and using fake personas and threats to keep her involved, while many encounters were secretly filmed without the men’s knowledge or consent. Ford pleaded not guilty in federal court on Friday and is being held without bail pending trial, with prosecutors emphasizing that he allegedly committed the new offenses while in Bureau of Prisons custody for a similar 2019 phishing conviction involving about $325,000 in stolen spending.
