Authorities say 56-year-old Robert Dorgan opened fire at a Rhode Island ice rink, killing his ex‑wife Rhonda and their son Aidan, wounding his in‑laws and others — two of the injured are in critical condition — before Dorgan died of a self‑inflicted gunshot. Family sources say Dorgan had identified as transgender and had prior family conflict related to his gender identity and divorce, and police say a good Samaritan who intervened likely helped end the attack; two surviving siblings have now lost both parents.
