Video released by Seattle authorities shows 42-year-old repeat offender Fale Vaigalepa Pea allegedly striking 75-year-old Jeanette Marken in the face from behind with a wooden stick tipped with a metal screw outside the King County Courthouse on Dec. 5, leaving her permanently blind in one eye and with multiple facial and skull fractures. Police say Pea, described by officers as 'notorious for random assaults' along Third Avenue and reportedly jailed eight times this year, was quickly arrested by a nearby King County Sheriff's deputy and has been charged with first-degree assault and held on $1 million bail, renewing concerns about downtown safety and repeat violent offenders.
