A Mexican Navy King Air ANX-1209 on a medical mission coordinated with the Michou and Mau Foundation crashed into Galveston Bay near the Galveston Causeway while approaching amid heavy fog, killing at least five of the eight people aboard; the flight carried four Mexican Navy officers and four civilians, including a young burn patient being transported for treatment. Bystanders — including yacht captain Sky Decker — pulled survivors from the nearly submerged wreckage, and the Texas Department of Public Safety is leading an investigation with NTSB, FAA, U.S. Coast Guard and local agencies on scene.
