Ajinomoto Foods North America has massively expanded a frozen‑food recall to nearly 37 million pounds of ready‑to‑eat products because they may contain glass, according to a new USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service notice. The recall now covers 16 frozen chicken and pork fried rice, ramen and shu mai dumpling items produced between October 2024 and February 2026 under the Ajinomoto, Kroger, Ling Ling, Tai Pei and Trader Joe’s brands, with best‑by dates from February 28, 2026, to August 19, 2027. The products were shipped to retailers nationwide, and some Ajinomoto‑branded items were exported to Canada and Mexico, after consumer complaints about glass pieces prompted an investigation. FSIS says the likely source is a carrot ingredient used across multiple product lines, and while no injuries have been reported so far, it is urging consumers not to eat the affected items and to dispose of or return them.
