Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman said he is directing authorities to install license‑plate readers, facial recognition and video cameras along the county’s border with New York City, citing concerns after NYC mayor‑elect Zohran Mamdani’s victory. In an interview published this week, Blakeman also said the county is hiring additional police officers beyond 100 cadets currently in the academy to bolster public safety.
