Richard Tillman, 44, the youngest brother of late NFL player and Army Ranger Pat Tillman, has pleaded guilty in federal court to malicious destruction of government property for ramming his car into a San Jose, California, post office last July and setting the vehicle on fire, igniting the building’s lobby. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California said Tillman admitted he set the blaze to “make a point to the United States government,” though prosecutors have not specified what point he intended to make. The July 20, 2025 incident, which he allegedly livestreamed on YouTube, caused a fire but no injuries. Tillman remains in federal custody and faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine when he is sentenced on April 27. His family has said he has struggled for years with severe mental health issues and expressed relief that no one was hurt.
