Four people injured in a Dec. 23 explosion at Bristol Health & Rehab Center in suburban Philadelphia have filed a negligence lawsuit in Philadelphia court against the nursing home operator, PECO Energy and its parent Exelon, alleging they knew about a natural gas leak for days but failed to evacuate or fix it. The blast, which occurred while a PECO crew was investigating a reported gas odor, killed a resident and a worker and injured about 20 others; plaintiffs say the leak originated in the boiler room and that the decision not to immediately evacuate immobile residents was reckless.
