Brooklyn Man Accused in Antisemitic Stabbing Freed on $50,000 Bail
New York court records show 23-year-old Armani Charles has been released on $50,000 bail after pleading not guilty to hate-crime charges in the Dec. 16, 2025 stabbing of a 35-year-old Jewish man near a Crown Heights Jewish center. Prosecutors say Charles shouted, "I’m going to kill Jewish people" and other antisemitic threats before allegedly stabbing Elias Rosner in the chest; Rosner survived with non–life-threatening injuries. The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force investigated the incident and Charles now faces counts of attempted assault, assault, aggravated harassment, menacing and a hate crime. Video circulating online shows a prolonged confrontation before the stabbing, with the victim following the suspect down the street, a detail that may figure in competing narratives as the case moves toward an April court date. The release will feed into ongoing public debates in New York and nationally over bail decisions in violent and hate-motivated attacks, especially those targeting visibly Jewish communities already on edge after a string of recent incidents.
