An appellate judge freed former NYPD Sgt. Ramon Duran on $300,000 bail while he appeals his conviction for fatally throwing a cooler. The decision came from Appellate Division Judge Saliann Scarpulla in New York. Duran was released after spending about a week at Rikers Island following his sentencing.
