NATO and Arctic Security

NATO has launched "Arctic Sentry," an effort to unify national drills in the High North—linking exercises such as Denmark’s Arctic Endurance and Norway’s Cold Response—framing the Arctic as a critical region amid growing competition with Russia and China. At the Munich Security Conference Keir Starmer announced the Royal Navy will deploy the carrier strike group led by HMS Prince of Wales to the North Atlantic and High North later this year to operate with the U.S., Canada and other allies, even as Donald Trump presses a framework for U.S. involvement in Greenland and the broader Arctic.
