The Justice Department has agreed to pay former national security adviser Michael Flynn about $1.25 million to settle his 2023 maliciousāprosecution/wrongfulāprosecution suit that had sought at least $50 million, resolving claims tied to his guilty plea, his effort to withdraw it, DOJās 2020 move to dismiss the case and his subsequent pardon. Under Attorney General Pam Bondi the department called the Russia probe a "historic injustice" and vowed to pursue accountability; the deal provides that Flynn must confirm receipt of funds before the case is dismissed with prejudice, each side will bear its own legal costs, and the court will not retain jurisdiction.
