Cardiologist Ewa Sokola has filed a defamation lawsuit in Manhattan federal court against her sister, Harvey Weinstein accuser Kaja Sokola, alleging Kaja’s public comments about her testimony in Weinstein’s latest New York trial have damaged her medical reputation in Poland. The complaint says Kaja falsely portrayed Ewa’s testimony as a betrayal, accused her of omitting journals about Weinstein, and further alleged homicide, theft, falsification of medical records, sexual impropriety and collusion with Weinstein’s defense, leading to lost referrals and patients for Ewa’s practice in Wrocław. The suit comes as Weinstein awaits a Jan. 8 ruling on a defense bid to overturn his June split verdict, which convicted him of sexually assaulting Miriam Haley but acquitted him on the charge involving Kaja.
