Marijuana Policy and Regulation

The Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission voted 4–0 on Dec. 11 to allow on‑site marijuana consumption at licensed establishments, clearing the way for non‑cannabis businesses such as yoga studios and movie theaters to obtain licenses for designated consumption areas. The regulations take immediate effect, though social consumption licenses are not yet available while the commission develops applications, guidance and vendor training, and the move follows President Trump’s recent executive order reclassifying marijuana as a less dangerous Schedule III drug that the commission publicly praised.
