The FBI and Department of Homeland Security have stepped up security nationwide ahead of New Year’s celebrations, with law enforcement ramping up patrols and protective measures at large gatherings. The increased vigilance follows recent incidents and threats, including a suspected synagogue arson in which the suspect, according to the FBI, reportedly said "he finally got them" after starting the blaze.
