Trump administration housing chief Bill Pulte has again referred New York Attorney General Letitia James to the Justice Department, alleging homeowners‑insurance fraud tied to a Universal Property Insurance application in Fort Lauderdale (which the referral says falsely listed the property as unoccupied five months a year) and a separate Allstate application in Illinois. DOJ has received the referrals and sent them to U.S. attorney offices including Jason Quiñones in the Southern District of Florida and Andrew Boutros in the Northern District of Illinois; the filings reportedly rely in part on social‑media posts by pro‑Trump lawyer Mike Davis, and come after a prior federal bank‑fraud indictment against James was dismissed over an unlawfully appointed prosecutor and subsequent grand juries declined to re‑indict her.
