The Justice Department asked the Supreme Court to vacate Steve Bannon’s Jan. 6 contempt conviction and, via a motion filed by U.S. Attorney for D.C. Jeanine Pirro, moved to dismiss his indictment with prejudice, saying dismissal is “in the interests of justice.” CBS reports Bannon does not oppose the motion and has already served about four months in prison for the contempt conviction, and DOJ’s reversal comes amid House Republicans’ renewed contempt threats against Bill and Hillary Clinton over the Epstein investigation.
