Senior Israeli and Syrian officials met in Paris under U.S. mediation — the fifth round and first in two months — and agreed to accelerate talks, take confidence‑building measures, and establish a U.S.-supervised joint "fusion" or communication cell to coordinate intelligence sharing, military de‑escalation, diplomatic engagement and commercial opportunities. The sides said talks will continue with a focus on border security, regional stability, economic cooperation and protecting minorities, while Syria seeks reactivation of the 1974 disengagement agreement and Israeli withdrawals to pre‑December 2024 positions; U.S. proposals reportedly include a joint economic zone along the demilitarized strip and any eventual deal is expected to address demilitarization of southern Syria and Israeli withdrawals.
