Senate Democrats again blocked Republicans’ bid to advance a full‑year DHS funding bill — a 51–45 cloture vote fell short of the 60‑vote threshold — saying Noem’s ouster won’t replace their demand for sweeping ICE and Border Patrol reforms (visible IDs and body cameras for agents, bans on masks, warrants for private‑property arrests, limits on enforcement at schools/churches, independent investigations and use‑of‑force restrictions). With DHS funding lapsed since Feb. 14, many DHS employees including TSA screeners face missed paychecks, travel and aviation groups warned of sickouts, staff attrition, longer airport lines, suspended Global Entry and canceled CISA and FEMA activities, and urged Congress to restore funding and guarantee pay as the House prepares another vote amid GOP warnings tied to the war with Iran.
