A Palestinian assailant rammed his car into people in Beit Shean, killing 68‑year‑old Shimshon Mordechai and injuring a teenage boy, then drove onto a highway and fatally stabbed a young woman identified by Prime Minister Netanyahu as teenager Aviv Maor and wounded another person before being shot by security forces. President Isaac Herzog called it a "horrific killing spree," and Defense Minister Israel Katz ordered troops to "act forcefully" against terrorist infrastructure in the assailant’s hometown of Qabatiya — where Israeli forces have massed — after recent raids there, including a Dec. 20 incident now under review.
