Federal prosecutors in Indiana are investigating Border Patrol Agent Charles Exum over the Oct. 4 Brighton Park shooting of Marimar Martinez after a judge unsealed body‑cam video, texts and other records that conflict with CBP’s initial account; Exum, who fired five times, has been placed on administrative leave. The released materials include body‑cam clips and photos, post‑incident texts joking about and praising Exum (and a praise email from commander Gregory Bovino), plus evidence Martinez’s lawyers say undermines claims she rammed agents’ vehicles; DOJ and the U.S. Attorney’s Office have declined to comment publicly.
