The Department of Homeland Security has tripled its "exit bonus" for undocumented immigrants who sign up to self-deport via the CBP Home app—raising the payment from $1,000 to $3,000, including a free flight home, and offering forgiveness of civil fines or penalties for failing to depart. DHS called the year‑end offer the "best gift" and warned that those who do not self‑deport "will be arrested, deported, and they will never be able to return," while claiming that since January 2025 about 1.9 million people have voluntarily self‑deported and tens of thousands have used the CBP Home program.
