Covenant Health, a Catholic healthcare system based in Andover, Massachusetts, says a May 2025 cyberattack previously believed to affect fewer than 8,000 people may have compromised data for up to 478,188 patients across New England and parts of Pennsylvania. An investigation found attackers accessed its IT systems between May 18 and May 26, 2025, with the Qilin ransomware group later claiming responsibility and allegedly stealing hundreds of gigabytes of data including names, addresses, Social Security numbers and treatment details; Covenant began mailing notification letters on Dec. 31, 2025 and is offering credit monitoring to those whose Social Security numbers were exposed.
