Lawyers argued an agreement made during the pandemic should shield Stacey Humphreys from execution, but a federal judge denied his request for a stay earlier this week and the U.S. Supreme Court declined his appeal in October. The Georgia Department of Corrections says Humphreys is set to be executed Wednesday at the Georgia Diagnostic & Classification Prison in Jackson â his requested last meal included barbecue, wings, a cheeseburger, pizza and ice cream â and the state has carried out 76 executions since reinstatement, with 32 men and one woman remaining on death row.
