Florida executed Richard Barry Randolph, 63, by lethal injection at 6:12 p.m. ET Thursday at Florida State Prison near Starke for the 1988 rape and murder of store manager Minnie Ruth McCollum in Palatka. The execution, confirmed by Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office, is Florida’s 17th this year, extending the state’s annual record; Randolph had no last words and recent appeals were denied by the Florida Supreme Court with a final petition pending before the U.S. Supreme Court.
