CBS confirmed Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Fed Chair Jerome Powell convened an urgent in‑person meeting with CEOs of Fed‑designated, structurally important banks to discuss those cybersecurity risks after Anthropic said its Claude Mythos Preview has already found thousands of high‑severity vulnerabilities that could be exploited. The debate over Mythos has also intersected with national security: Anthropic’s refusal to support autonomous weapons helped scuttle a $200 million Pentagon contract and prompted a supply‑chain‑risk designation that Anthropic recently failed to block in federal appeals court.
