Rep. Eric Swalwell filed a federal suit in Washington, D.C., alleging FHFA official Pulte abused her post—including installing herself atop the housing GSEs and purging ethics officials—to “scour” Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac mortgage databases for Democrats’ private records and trigger a DOJ probe opened Nov. 13 that accused him of falsely claiming a D.C. home as a primary residence (he says it was his wife’s). The complaint says ethics officials are investigating improper access to confidential mortgage data, ties the referral to a pattern targeting other Trump critics, and contends the disclosures harmed his 2026 governor bid and endangered his family; DOJ has named a special prosecutor in related mortgage‑fraud probes.
