Trump said he would withhold federal law‑enforcement support in "poorly run Democrat cities" during protests or riots unless governors or mayors explicitly request help — saying they should use the word "PLEASE" — a stance Fox characterizes as an "ask us" doctrine limited to non‑federal property. He also directed DHS, ICE and Border Patrol to "guard, and very powerfully so, any and all Federal Buildings" and warned that people who assault officers "will suffer an equal, or more, consequence," language Fox notes is ambiguous and which the White House frames as shifting responsibility to local Democratic officials.
